A couple of random thoughts from two NCCers who emailed me. They are worth quoting.
"It's easy to act like a Christian. It's hard to react like one." That is so true and that is what is so impressive about Jesus. He didn't just act like the Son of God. Even when the soldiers were mocking him and spitting on him and nailing him to the cross, he reacted like the Son of God. I think our reactions say more about us than our actions.
"I continue to pray that we don't allow the perfect to become the enemy of the good." As a perfectionist that is so powerful to me. I got that email right as I was reading I Samuel 14:6 which says, "Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf." I think one of the things that keeps us from taking steps of faith is our perfectionism. It may seem crazy, but we need to be healed of perfectionism. Perfectionism is a form of legalism.
