Ethiopia: $46,000 Gift

My farther-in-law passed away seven years ago, but his legacy lives on. He had an amazing heart for missions in general and Ethiopia in particular. He may have been the most giving person I've ever known. He was a "crazy giver" to use Pastor Zeb's words. At his funeral, we requested that people designate gifts for Ethiopia in lieu of flowers. We recently realized that the gifts that were given had never been distributed. So we brought a check with us for $46,000 to give to Pastor Zeb. I had several thoughts swirling around that gift.

It's amazing that seven years after his death, my father-in-law is still giving! What a cool thing. I hope I'm still giving after I die. His death is giving life to a new church!

One more thought. As the end of our trip neared we couldn't wait to give Pastor Zeb the gift. It was hard to keep it a secret. I wonder if that's how God feels? He can't wait to bless us! My mom used to ask us if she could tell us what she got us for Christmas. I think God is like that. He is more excited about giving than we are about receiving!
