Ethiopia: Double Portion
Pastor Zeb shared something today that blessed me and challenged me. He talked about the anointing increasing with generations. His father and my father-in-law have had an unbelievable impact, but he said that the anointing should increase like it did with Elijah and Elisha. Uncle Betta confirmed that word when he shared today. And the Lord reminded me of something I'd totally forgotten about. I probably haven't accessed this file in seven years.
When my father-in-law died I remember standing by his coffin and asking God for a "double portion" of his anointing. I'm not sure exactly how that translates. I'm not sure Elisha did exactly twice as many miracles. But I believe the Lord is honoring that request. And I had forgotten about it until this morning.
Uncle Betta started the Assemblies of God church in Addis eight years ago. That church has planted forty churches and is touching tens of thousands each week. But I believe that's the tip of the iceberg. I believe we're part of something historic--both in our Capital (Washington, DC) and the capital of Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).
Lord, increase your anointing. Do things in my generation that previous generations only dreamed about. I believe your calling us to not just take cities. Your calling us to take nations and continents. And I believe you're using NCC and the church in Addis Ababa, the two capital cities, to be part of a national and continental revival.
