Ethiopia: Seven Fingers
We visited the merkato today. As we walked by the different shops I felt like "raw meat." I think the merchants see Americans and start salivating. I wanted to buy a pair of shoes, but Ethiopians must have small feet. I didn't even come close to finding a pair of shoes that were close to my size.
We bought some Ethiopian coffee today and it was so fun to see an "Ethiopian barista" do his thing. There was a cool saying handing in the coffee shop. It was attributed to Balzac, whoever that is. "When you drink coffee ideas come marching in like an army." I like it.
One of my unforgettable sights today was a man with seven fingers. I've never seen a more deformed hand. But one of the things the Lord really revealed to me this week is Ephesians 2:10. We are God's "workmanship" or "work of art." God doesn't see poverty or deformity. He sees beauty. We are each his work of art. I think our glorification (the moment we get to heaven) will be like an artist's unveiling. God will reveal who we were meant to be!
