Playful Parenting

So we're driving in the car on Sunday and out of nowhere I said, "Kids, your school called and informed us that you have another week of school. But we've decided that we're going to let you skip." They bought it hook, line, and sinker. I eventually told them I was kidding, but it was amazing how gullible they were :) One of the things I'm realizing is that I want to be a "playful parent" that has fun with their kids. I'm not suggesting "pranks" or "jokes" that cause your children to never know whether you'll kidding or serious :) And you still have to "lay down the law"--think of it as a fence around a playground. But I've been having so much fun with the kids the last week. We went swimming yesterday and I was one of the kids. I think one key to parenting in incarnation. It's thinking like they think. It's playing like they play. It's getting down on their level the way Jesus got down on our level.
