Thought for the Day

I was so impacted yesterday by one of those "little verses" that just gets in your spirit. I Corinthians 4:7 says, "What do you have that you did not receive?" The answer is nothing! I've just been thanking the Lord for everything I take for granted. I can't make my synapses fire. I can't turn oxygen into glucose. I can't monitor the trillions of chemical reactions happening in my body every second of every day. For that matter, I can't keep the planets in orbit. I had a thought this morning: I think we'll spend the first few "years" of eternity thanking God for all the things He's done that we didn't even know He did. I liken it to parents of babies. You invest so much time and energy loving them and providing for them and they are totally ignorant of how much you've sacrificed. None of our kids thanked me for changing their diapers! I'm not complaining. That's what parents do. Magnify that by a factor of infinity and you've got God.
