baptism video
We showed the Baptism by the Bay video this morning and I lost it. I could barely regain my composure! It's hard to put into words, but nothing moves me more than seeing someone profess faith in Christ. It's the spiritual equivalent of getting married or having a baby! Those baptism videos never get old to me. After watching them I say to myself, "That's what it's all about." All the time and energy that goes into everything we do pays off in moments like that.
Last week I asked the question: what makes you cry or pound your fist on the table? Ironically, this video really revealed one of my deepest passions. I have a hard time watching baptism videos without crying.
For what it's worth, the thing that makes me "pound my fist on the table" is when Hollywood and Madison Avenue do a better job advertising meaningless things than we do advertising the good news. One of my deepest convictions is that the greatest message deserves the greatest marketing. I think more churches and pastors need a sanctified competitive streak. We aren't competing with each other. We're competing with an alternate use of time and energy.
