double blessing
I just got a phone call from someone at the Assemblies of God Headquarters and they told me that we're going to be honored as a "transformational church" at General Council in August. I guess we're one of thirteen churches selected (out of 10,000 AG churches).
When I was a little younger and less mature I really craved recognition to an unhealthy extent. But over the years, I've realized that you can't seek that stuff out. You can't go get it. It has to come to you.
I don't want this blog to give the wrong impression. I have plenty of imperfections I'm working on. I'm still pretty young and pretty immature :) And I probably still crave recognition to an unhealthy extent :) But I see these kind of "honors" as platforms. If they give us a platform to help and inspire other churches the way other churches has inspired and helped us then I'm humbled and excited about it. By the way, I think the way we handle these kinds of "blessings" or "honors" determines whether God continues to bless and honor :)
All of that is to say this. I'm excited about what God is doing at NCC and if that inspires some other churches along the way it's a double blessing.
