Saul's Ipod
I had a "conversion experience" today :) I made the leap from Dell DJ to iTunes. Pastor Dave gave me an iTunes crash course and I'm loving it! I'm really trying to be strategic in what I listen to when I want to listen to something. I created several folders today.
I have a folder for my messages so I can keep evaluating my messages and grow as a communicator. I subscribed to our podcast so I'll get my messages automatically downloaded each week. It simplifies my life in so many ways!
I have a Leadership Library where I download and burn CDs and MP3s to keep my leadership edge sharp. I rarely listen to CDs because we don't have a CD player in our van and when I'm in the office I can't just sit there and listen to a CD. Burning them onto my Ipod allows me to "redeem the time" and feed my mind and spirit while I workout or run.
I have a folder for worship and workout so I can listen to "mood music." I also have a chill folder that I listen to while I study for messages or want to relax. It's filled with non-distracting songs. I'm very intentional about what I listen to while I work or study. I love studying in an atmosphere of worship.
I'm a big believer in the Mozart Effect. The right music can enhance brain function. Certain music helps me think better! I also think there is biblical precedent. When David played the harp it had a postive effect on Saul emotionally and mentally and spiritually. I guess David was Saul's Ipod. Check out I Samuel 16:14-23. It's all about the power of music.
