do or done

Bill Hybels interviewed best-selling author Ken Blanchard today. What's cool is that Hybels was instrumental in Blanchard coming to faith in Christ. Blanchard said that one thought was instumental in his thinking process. Bill Hybels explained, "Religion is spelled 'do' and Christianity is spelled 'done'." I love that.

Religion is about what you can do for God. Christianity is about what God has done for you. That takes the pressure off.

Well said. When I talk to my friends who don't believe - I find that they think Church will change them or brainwash them in negative ways. I think I realize that the marketing to them has been sold through poor interpretations. What do you say to an agnostic who's father molested them and they want nothing to do with Church or religion or God?

That's so tough, but pain (emotional and spiritual) is the byproduct of sin or what I might call "spiritual entropy." So often we blame on God what is caused by human beings being terrible stewards of their free will. It'd be like blaming the doctor for your sickness.

The only place a person will experience healing for something like molestation is in a relationship with God. Those scars will he totally healed in heaven, but God can redeem the hurts in our lives and make us whole.
