the favor of God
I posted last week and said that opportunities are reproducing like rabbits right now. Last Thursday was a great example. I wrote one article for Relevant magazine and got two article requests that same day.
I can't seem to keep up with the doors God seems to be opening right now. I had a phone conference with a publisher last week. Honestly, I would have been thrilled about one publisher being interested in my manuscript. And I'd put this particular publisher at the top of my wish list. But I've got another publisher who just expressed interest this week.
I guess this is a gratitude blog. I just don't take any of this for granted. I honestly attribute it to the "favor" of God.
My modus operandi is pretty simple: work like it depends on you and pray like it depends on God. I pour myself into everything I do then I pray for the favor of God. That's how I approach pastoring. That's how I approach writing. That's how I approach the God ideas I'm cultivating right now.
I have a simple life philosophy. I get credit for the bad stuff and God gets credit for the good stuff. So God gets the credit for the good stuff that is happening right now.

have you ever thought of hosting a group or class for those interested in writing. It would be a great way to share your expertise but really it would just be a great way for those around you to steal some of your talent.
I did a "ministry mentoring" group last sememster. A writing group? Hmmmm...I like the idea. I've also thought about a "reading group" or "book club." I think one of the best ways to develop as a writer is to read. Alot.
I'll give it some thought. I don't have a super long track record of success. ID: The True You isn't threatening any Best-Seller lists right now :) But I'm not dispising the days of small beginnings :)
For what it's worth, the evotionals I send out after every message were a very intentional attempt to develop my writing style and voice. I think a blog or journal is a good place to start too. I journaled for a decade before I started blogging or writing books. It helped me process my thoughts which is the heart of writing.
I know how you feel, Pastor Mark! I feel the same way about baking cheesckakes. I'm so amazed they turn out so good that I just know that it's because God's hand and anointing are on them! I am truly thankful and grateful that He has given me this gift of baking (if there is such a gift). So, the "work like it depends on you, and pray like it depends on God" is only half true for me in this instance because the "work" part doesn't feel like work, it feels more like joy, peace, and grace. Although, I really do pray like it depends on God because I really want the cakes to taste good!
God seems to be exposing my cheesecakes to everywhere! I was jokingly telling someone the other day how some people seem to "meet "my cheesecakes before they "meet" me! I think this is sooo AWESOME! It is so awesome to see God's hand in my life this way! WOW! Forward! WOW! Backwards! is all I can say!
Reading Club, Book Club, or Writing Class...sign me up. I'd travel.
