#1 Fan
I had a great prayer time this morning. I wasn't kneeling or studying Scripture. I was at Parker and Summer's soccer game! Parker has never scored a goal. He normally plays defense. And Summer is one of the youngest players on the team. So she needs a little extra prayer :)
I prayed with rare intensity today. Once when Summer was defending one of her best friends :) And once when Parker had a shot on goal. The ball actually hit the goal post, richocheted to a teammate, who scored the goal.
All of that to say this. I'm praying like crazy on the sidelines. I'm shouting and cheering for my kids. I'm their #1 Fan. And I couldn't help but think about our #1 Fan. I know we don't tend to think of God in cheerleader terms. But no one cheers louder or prays harder.
Before we woke up this morning and after we go to bed to night, the Holy Spirit is praying for us with rare intensity.
Romans 8:26 says, "We don't even know what we should pray for, now how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words."
Sounds like a die hard fan pulling for their favorite player to me!
Not sure what your name is so I'll use mine. Can't you imagine God saying to the angels, "Give me an M. Give me an A. Give me an R. Give me a K. What's it spell? Louder!" Then He starts "the Wave" and angels are flying all over the place :)
I gaurantee one thing: God is your biggest fan.

thats such a cool analogy pastor mark....you always come up with such cool things and ways to think about them
Pastor, I'm feeling the wave coming on this Sunday morning!!! :)
Pastor, I have to tell you something. I am your biggest fan!!!
My 2 year old daughter taught me something about prayer this past week... I posted about it on my blog.
I read John 14:6 the other day and the part saying that "no one can come to the Father except through me" made me think that Jesus is also our fan. Almost like an attorney, I believe He will argue our case before God on judgment day.
What do you think?
John,
If there is anybody I want arguing my case it's Jesus :)
Mark
