Sirrius Interview

Just did an interview with Jay Thomas on Sirrius radio. I thought it was a podcasting interview. Turned into a Hurricane Katrina interview. Radio is all about soundbytes. And it's awfully hard to answer the toughest questions like "how could God let this happen" in two sentences. But I did the best I could.

I'm amazed at the openness of relatively irreligious people during this kind of tragedy. It forces everyone to ask the "how" and "why" questions. I don't have all the answers. In fact, some questions won't be answered this side of eternity.

I think unexplained experiences and unanswered questions are the toughest tests we face. Sometimes there isn't an answer key at the back of the book. But I do know that death is not the end of life. And that hope is the fuel that keeps someone going when they experience this kind of tragegdy.

I'm glad you addressed this. I was interested in your thoughts about the tragedy in the Gulf.

As far as the radio interview, I think its because you're a pastor and (right or wrong) people expect guidance from you. They expect that you will have the answers that they don't and be able to show them hope that they can't see.

Just my thoughts. Thanks for your time.
