No Tengo Dinero

Had a funny experience this morning :)

A few months ago I bought a shirt that said No Tengo Dinero. For all the non-Spanish speakers out there that means "I have no money." I bought the shirt because my sister-in-law, Amanda, and I have this longstanding joke about how poor my Spanish is. But I claim to be her "Spanish mentor." So I bought the shirt to flaunt my Spanish skilzs.

Anywho.

I went to open the bank account for Godipod.com today. And I was wearing that shirt. It was totally unplanned. I've only worn the shirt twice. But it dawned on me as I was walking in to the door: I'm going into the bank to open an account with a shirt that says "I have no money."

It cracked me up!

Fortunately, I don't think any of the bankers spoke Spanish!

Hasta Luego!

"No tengo plata" in latin american spanish means "I have no silver" but it can be used in slang as " I have no money ". When pronounced, it has to be said in a mexican cowboy accent ....a little like the "yo quiero taco" dog from Taco Bell. This would also be a cool shirt. :)

It says something to this effect:

It's great that you can't read my shirt.
