Bad Haircut
Note to self.
If you go to get your haircut from a barber you've never had before and they have a confused look on their face after explaining what you want, you probably aren't going to like the way the haircut looks.
I just got one of the worst haircuts I've ever had :)
That's one of the most helpless feelings in the world. I'm sitting in the chair and I could tell by the way he was cutting my hair that it wasn't going to turn out ok. But I didn't have the guts to stop him in the middle of the cut!
Can you ask for a haircut refund? Not sure about the barber etiquette on that.

You can always do what I did... send your wife to cosmetology school... saves tons of money and she knows just how I like it. Ahhhh, what a life!
Oh my! Thanks for the good laugh, but where's the picture? If you're really going to be vulnerable with us, digitally capture the moment and share! Having said that, I can truly empathize with your story. When I lived in Long Beach, the young men I worked with advised me to get my hair cut at one of the local barber shops. Though the establishment did not seem to cater to my crowd, I wanted to express my cross-cultural idealism. I went in, sat down, and proceeded to break out into a mighty sweat as the barber "chunked" my hair. Silent agony is the only way I can describe my time in that chair. I have since come to two conclusions: 1) Watch out for cross-cultural hair-cut experiences; 2) Never take adolescents' advice regarding barbershops, especially if the shop is called "Hair 911"!
The only difference between a
good haircut and a bad one is
about 2 weeks. I'm a hairdresser!!
Hair's like grass, it'll grow.
Funny :) I'm counting down the days :) 14 to go!
Maybe time to pull out that Pink OP shirt. No one will notice your hair ;)
You can always have hair like me...lack of hair atleast. :-) Chris
Is there a "best dressed Pastor" award? ... PM would surely win. haha.
I got a bad haircut in college...and some of my friends still call me Lieutenant Nathan!
I also have another remedy for your situation. Come to our house sometime and I will use my clippers.
I promise it will be even.
You're scaring me now Nathan :) Aren't you involved in enough ministries already? Seems like a "haircut ministry" might be a little outside your gift mix :)
Interesting concept...my haircut ministry would definitely emphasize lessons in humility and patience.
And as everyone who has seen my hair knows, haircutting is definitely outside my gift mix.
You know... i was just thinking about it... God spared you... at least the bad haircut came after the Washington Post Pic. How blessed are you?

I've been there...and worse. I have the monobrow-syndrome (cutting close to TOO personal), but I have to get it waxed or it's outrageous. Went to a new place and the lady waxed one eyebrow normal and the other one pencil-thin. So I was like "Two-Face;" 1/2 of my face was normal, and the other...let's just say... effeminate. I was mortified leaving the barber shop and terrified going to work and church the next day.
when i was in college, i tried to save money by giving myself a haircut.
bad idea.
i wore a hat for a few weeks.

Pastor Mark,
I feel your pain! I was stuck in the unfortunate situation of being in Bolivia on a ST missions trip in 2000 when I had wing-like things at the nape of my neck to deal with on a daily sticky-weather basis. And I don't even think it was a good faith attempt to revive Mrs. Brady, either. Not good.

I think we need to see it! Come on, it would be a great way to connect with all of us...
mark
you cant talk about that and not show it....
HAHAHAHAHA :) Hey Pastor Mark, Isn't it amazing to see how much joy you have given us by telling us about your painful experience. :) Perhaps people could bid to get a picture of your haircut?
We laugh with you because most of us have been there one that.
I've got to admit. The timing of my terrible haircut was perfect :)
I wore a skull cap all day today. I was under dressed for a couple meetings, but I saved my dignity :)
Now I've got four days off so I'll be able to wear a hat five days in a row :)
We prayed in staff meeting that my hair would grow quickly. I'd apprecaite some prayer warriors on my behalf :)
I would like to put in my request for a picture. Come on Pastor Mark! It's all apart of laughing at yourself! And remember...the healthiest people are those that can laugh at themselves. Right?
