A Prayer, A Congressman, and 25 Years

Bookmark and Share

Had dinner with my Uncle, Betta Mengistu last night. It's a long story but our families have adopted each other. We're different nationalities. We have different colored skin. But we're family. I'm part Ethiopian :)

We are helping Zeb Mengistu (my spiritual cousin) plant a church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. If you're been a blog reader for a while you know that a team of NCCers (myself included) spent a week in Ethiopia last May and I blogged about my experiences there.

Anywho.

Uncle Betta shared one story over dinner that I thought was so cool.

Twenty-five years ago he was asked to pray for a lawyer and his wife who couldn't have children. He prayed that God would open the womb and let them have a family. God answered those prayers in the form of two children. He forgot about them over the years, but they didn't forget Uncle Betta. Uncle Betta just found out that the lawyer is now a member of Congress. They're just getting reconnected and reacquaninted.

He said, "You never know who you're praying for you or how those prayers will be answered."

Amen to that.

hope that this congressman is reciprocating with prayer for ethiopia and the ministry there- and for the entire continent of africa.
especially today on world aids day-

may this congressman and others take the initiative to try and get the western pharmeceutical companies to provide countries in dire need the drugs they have availible.

may we all be a little more convicted to come to the point where we say that it's ok to actually "GIVE" things away. yes, for free.

*hasler
