Rhythm and Momentum

I think two keys to successful ministry are rhythm and momentum. You've got to find a rhythm that creates momentum.

It starts with finding a natural rhythm to practice spiritual disciplines. And that rhythm creates momentum.

Rhythm is not just the key to spiritual disciplines. It's the key to ministry practices too.

You've got to find a preaching rhythm. Kicking off the year with a back to basics series, Y: Why We Do What We Do, was motivated by the calendar. Doing a relationship series, DTR: Define the Relationship, right around Valentine's Day is not happenstance.

Rhythm and Momentum are two reasons why we went to a sememster system for our small groups. We decided to make our small groups fit the rhythm of life in DC. We revolve our semester around holidays and congressional recesses. It's a natural fit. We also felt like semesters would give people natural entrance and exit points. It allows us to generate momentum when we kick off each semester.

You've got to find a rhythm for study and meetings. That's why I have focus days on Mondays and Fridays when I don't schedule meetings. And I have meeting days on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I don't get to focus!

Rhythm is the key spiritual momentum.
Rhythm is the key to relational momentum.

Oh yah, rhythm is the key to dancing too :)

At least that is what I've been told by people after watching me dance.
