Book Recommendations

Bookmark and Share

I just had a great conversation with someone who is "investigating Christianity." I typically recommend a few books for people. Just thought I'd share them.

Finding Faith by Brian McLaren
Can a Smart Person Believe in God by Michael Guillen
The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel

Those books are definitely geared toward "intellectual types."

One thing I tried to explain is that you can't prove or disprove the existence of God, the inspiration of Scripture, or the divinity of Chirst. I think the evidence points toward the existence of God, the inspiration of Scripture, and the Divinity of Christ. But eventually you have to take a leap of faith one direction or the other.

Disbelief is a form of belief. I honestly think it takes more faith to not believe. You have to jump one way or the other. It's just a question of whether you jump toward God or away from God.

Evangelism is such a tag-team sport. We share information. But the Holy Spirit gives revelation.

Without revelation, all the information in the world is useless.

I know it's "old school," but I recommend Mere Christianity for intellectual types, as well.

Alpha also has some good resources for people checking out Christianity.
