Day 1

Bookmark and Share

Today was my first day in my new office. Rock n Roll. Props to my assistant, Tim Elzea, for moving everything over! Pretty amazing to go away for three days, come back, and your entire office is moved.

A few first days reflections.

The view is unbelievable. I sit right across from the Federal Judiciary Building and Station Place, soon to be the largest office building in Washington, DC. And I have a view of Union Station half a block away!

I also noticed that just about everybody who walks by Ebenezers stares at it. We're the Elephant in the room. And we've got these big office windows so people watch us work. I actually spent quite a bit of time dancing by our 2nd floor office windows yesterday. Just seemed like the thing to do. I'm thinking about instituting an office-wide policy that we do a dance break at 2:01 PM everyday in honor of 201 F Street. On second thought, maybe we should pray at 2:01 PM everyday :)

Loving life in my new digs :) It wasn't too many years ago that the church office was a bedroom in our home. It doubled as church office my day and Summer's room by night.

Are you sure that they weren't staring at the building just because you were dancing in the windows?

Carolyn,

I wish people stared when I danced :) Usually they avert their eyes :) Cover their ears. And scream at the top of their lungs.

Pastor Mark, a funny thing happened to me on the "way up" in the elevator going to my office this morning. One of my co-workers told me that he had seen me a few times on Capitol Hill and asked me if I lived over there. I told him that I my is Church in the theaters @ Union Station and that we are building a Coffee House on 2nd $ F Street. He then said, "Ebenezers?" I said "Yes that's the one!" He said that he and his wife live in that area and can't wait for it to open! He said that they really want to see the inside of it because they think it will look good! I invited him to Church and to check us out on the Internet!

Psalms 149:3
Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

I don't see a big difference between dancing and praying. In fact, with the right posture in your heart, dancing and praying is the same thing. You declare your dependence on God with your feet!
