I'm a happy camper right now. I just got my copy of Chazown--Craig Groeshel's new book on vision. I know what you're thinking. "You cheated." I declared April 5 as Chazown Day. I'm encouraging evotional readers to buy Chazown on Amazon.com or your online bookstore of choice. I confess. I cheated and bought the book early, but I'm buying additional copies for some friends and staff on April 5.
Craig Groeshel shares a cool prayer in the first chapter. It was originally prayed by Sir Francis Drake. For what it's worth, I once did a report on Sir Francis Drake in Junior High. I dig the explorers! Here is what Drake prayed:
Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrive safely because we have sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us, Lord.
I love that prayer!

I just finished a book called "Chasing Daylight" by Gene O'Kelly. Gene was the CEO of KPMG LLP. He was a jetsetter - friends with the titans in modern business. In June of 2005 he was diagnosed with late stage brain cancer and given 3 months to live. He wrote this book in those 3 months. It's about how he tries to focus his mind and reconcile himself to his "transition" to the next life. How he unwinds his relationships with all the people he's touched and his family. He was religious but the book isn't particularly religious - It's pretty heavy though - he's actually dying while writing the book. It's sad and uplifting (if those 2 can go hand in hand) and very focused.
Don't mean to bum you out - but you're talking books. I think I'll get Chazown Day - I need something a little more upbeat after this one. Do we have a book club small group?
