Digital Church

I continue to marvel at the way blogs and podcasts are revolutionizing the way we do ministry. Our generation is witnessing the death of distance!

Information used to travel at the speed of horses and trains. It now travels at the speed of mouse. One click of the mouse and information travels around the world at the speed of light.

Here's an email I got from a blog reader that I thought was worth passing along. It's one more reason why I believe in e-vangelism and digital discipleship.

Mark,

Wanted to say hello. I've been in Europe the past two weeks. Long trip, but I did get to spend time in the South of France, which is always cool. Anyway, I was on the evotional site while waiting for a meeting in Nice and a person who I was meeting with happened to hear the soda can opening, and asked what I was looking at.

Needless to say I took the opportunity to talk with him about digital church for lack of a better word. The guy is French, and his entire idea of God is the old Church in his village. This site, along with some other ones I showed him allowed us to have a meaningful conversation about life, Jesus and Christianity.

I wanted you to know that 4000 miles away in Provence, your ministry is at work, and has changed his interest in spiritual things from ritualistic to real.

God still works in strange and mysterious ways!

You might get tired of reading it, but there are ways of doing church that no one has thought of yet. The church needs to be in the business of redeeming technology to serve God's purposes!

If it's worth preaching it's worth podcasting.

Blog on.

wow, that's a great email.

I bet the email writer had no idea what a great opportunity she/he would have to affect someone's life when she logged on.

Reminds me of your comments about church being a tag team sport.
