Buzz Reflections: Day 2

I'm a perfectionist so I can immediately identify the things I'd do different next time around :) Don't outsource lights! Schedule enough speakers so you don't have to prepare for three sessions :) Open the doors before 1 PM for your 1 PM session :) Little stuff like that!

Can't wait to get feedback on how we can make Buzz 07 even better!

Here are some of the highlights for me:

The synnergy amongst conference attendees was unreal. I've been to lots of conferences that are alot better than Buzz in lots of ways. But it seemed like there was intense conversation amongst attendees at all times. I wonder if some of that is the blog effect. People already knew lots of names before coming to the conference. For some people, Buzz was a "blog reunion" of sorts. I also think that there were alot of theater churches with a similar DNA.

I was inspired by the Buzz Film Festival. It was so cool to see that so many churches are pushing the envelop with their videos. I could have watched videos all night.

Another highlight was dinner with friends on Friday Night post-buzz. It was so cool to connect with pastors from all over the country. And Australia :) It was a great way to top off the conference.

Serious props to our team--all the way from our Buzz Coordinator, Juliet Main, to the NCCers who took off from work to help out. I really felt like the conference was so healthy for us! It stretched us. I think it pushed our hospitality and worship and production to the next level. And I know it was a learning experience for me.

Can't wait for Buzz 07 :)

We'll send out an email survey and get some feedback from conference attendees. We'll make plenty of adjustments for Buzz 07. I think Buzz 06 was about starting a conversation.

Buzz On.

I've been reading comments from other guys' blogs about Buzz and sounds like it was awesome! We just finished our own leadership conference, and after all the work...it's awesome to know that people came away from it refreshed and refurbished!! Props to you and your team!

Hey I was at the Buzz conference along with three other people from my church. It was AWESOME! You all are doing a great thing. One thing that I want to mention. What do you think about splitting up the next conference into categories. Maybe just for the Q&A talk panel. Like one just on Video or Web Design. Just so we can all talk with people interested in that area. It might help. I know that I personally was a little bored when questions were asked that I wasn't interested in a whole lot. Just to throw it out to you. It was awesome though.

Wish I could have attended! Next year I will be there ...

Will you be selling DVD's or mp3's of the sessions that were covered this year??

Robert,

I'll post something on how to get the CD's. I'm not promising, but we might extend our "register for Buzz 07 and get the 06 CD package" deal for a limited time. I'll be sure to blog about it.

I wasn't able to make it over last week, but both my dad and some friends of mine did and they loved it. Thought I'd pass it on.

Get the eval done early, though! I know that as a creative pastor you know this, but with every passing day the brain drops all the negative memories until you end up like the Hebrews with Moses whose only recollection of Egypt was that the fruit there was really good and cheap! (Num. 11:5)

I think you're right on about the starting a conversation. maybe even a little bit of "extending" and "amplifying" the conversation. the "blog effect" was a huge part of this in my opinion. i'd love to know more about what a socio-neurological-psycho-dude like you would give as an analysis of the way blogging is impacting events like this.

you've blazed so many trails recently for the church into technology. adding russell just wasn't fair - y'all had it working without him. now what? it's kinda like the saints picking up reggie.

ha.

anyway - thanks for doing the conf. i hope your teams vision has grown even greater through it.

and the dinner at the house - from the doxology to "W" meeting "moby" - i had a great time with great people in a really cool place. thanks for making that happen.

y'all are on it.

Mark,
Thanks for not overproducing the conference. It's true that if you take time and effort to turn water into wine, you might as well make the best wine. Still, while good lighting is important, it is not as important as God's presence that was palpable. NCC staff's attitude was contageous. It is not easy to corral high-capacity dreamers. JOB WELL DONE.
