Life in DC
So I'm driving from Results Gym to the office this morning and Senator Trent Lott is walking out of his house and hopping into his car.
I'm pretty immune to DC. Probably too immune. I jog on the National Mall. We take picnics to the Capitol. We pass the memorials everyday. I'm pretty used to the who's who and what's what of DC, but every once in a while it hits you where you live. It's somewhat surreal when you see a political talking head in person and realize they live a few blocks from you.
Maybe we'll trick-or-treat their house on Halloween :)

I agree that you get totally immune. So we were trick or treating last year. And two democratic candidates live in my neighborhood exactly 1 block from each other. The one running for president had all his lights off and a security guard there to tell us no one was home. The guy running for VP a block over had a security guard outside giving away huge candy bars. Guess which one my kids voted for? His name was John. Only in DC. Have fun with Trent. Hope he gets the candy memo.
I had a poli-celeb moment once at, of all places, Safeway when I was waiting forever for the guy in front of me to get through with paying and hearing about how much he could save... I finally looked up and it was Joe Lieberman.
Mark - about eighteen months ago, we were walking toward a friend's Chevy Suburban on 2nd street behind the Supreme Court. My wife grabbed the door handle and got a very rude awakening to discover it was not OUR Suburban - it was the one waiting for John Ashcroft. D'oh!
Too funny :) Glad you survived the incident!
