Philly Cheesesteak

Just got back from Philly. Some of our team got up early today and made the drive up I95 to meet with some pastors to talk church planting and multi-site.

Here I am enjoying my first Philly Cheesesteak. I'd heard so much about both Pat's and Geno's that I had one from each. And my verdict is...drum roll...I know this may get me in trouble...Pat's it is :)

Here's my first bite!

Hi Pastor Mark!

Great photo. When you go back up there, go to Gooey Looie's on Moyamensing and Moore Streets. They're open every day except Sundays, and their "steaks" are so big, you can hardly get your mouth around 'em! My husband is from Philly and he swears by this place. Enjoy!

Mark:

I'm glad to hear that you picked Pats.

The Genos/Pats rival is a classic example of different marketing. With Genos, you have bright neon lights, cheesesteak flags (?), and a gift shop across the street. Basically, trying to confuse and draw people through glitz rather than taste.

With Pats, no bright lights just a red sign stating its date of establishment. They don't need the fancy lights, the sandwich speaks for itself.

Either way, both companies are doing well and your getting a pretty good cheesesteak.

Did you guys run through south Philly like Rocky?

Nah papa, you have to try some of Philly's cuban food. Leave the sandwiches for a light lunch.

Didn't get to run the steps :) Maybe next time! That ought to be a life-goal for every Rocky fan.
