Forty Days

Today is T-minus forty days till my book, In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day releases on October 1, 2006. I feel like the release of the book marks a new chapter and a new ministry in a sense. Whenever I'm facing a new challenge or a new season I follow the example Jesus set with forty days of prayer and fasting.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm less spiritual than Jesus :) I'm not going to fast food for forty days. I am fasting a variety of things and adding some new twists on some old spiritual disciplines.

I am completely intrigued by the notion of fasting something other than food. (As a diabetic, the idea of going on a food fast scares me a little). Can you speak more about what it is you will be doing?

I've fasted TV and coke before. I think it's giving something up that frees you up to focus on God. I really like fasting diversity. Food is a great way to fast. But some of my most meaningful fasts have involved TV :) Maybe that's just me.

congrats on the book!! How exciting is that!?!?

Thanks for sharing about the fasting. I hadn't really thought about it in that sense before. I like the idea of fasting something, so that when you desire it, you instead turn your focus on God.

I'm not 100% sure about bookstores in the UK. Definitely online stores like amazon.com and barnes and noble.

Pastor Mark-

I am really looking forward to the book. I know it will be absolutely awesome.

I am all for the fast of something other than food. :-) j/k Actually, I do the same thing. The hardest thing to fast is the computer, more specifically the internet.

Anyways, I am really excited for you and celebrate this awesome accomplishment in your life.
