Online Confessional

We started brainstorming an October sermon series this week. I want to do a series on sin. It is one topic I honestly feel qualified to talk about :) I'm a sin expert. So are you! I really want to "get down and dirty" and help people deal with their sin issues. I think sometimes we minimize our sinfulness and all that does is cheapen God's grace!

One of my ideas was to do an online confessional. I personally like letmetellyouwhyisuck.com as a potential website. That is inspired by Tommy Boy, of course. But we might come up with an alternative :)

Not sure how we'll brand the series yet, but I like the idea of an online confessional where people can write out a confession. One of the enemy's primary tactics is to get us to keep sin secrets. That is why I think written confessions are powerful. My most meaningful communion experiences at NCC have been when we write out confessions and literally nail them to a cross.

So we're brainstorming the series and I get this link: http://www.mysecret.tv/

I like the fact that we're on the same wavelength as lifechurch.tv. They're usually just a few steps ahead :) By the way, if you don't get their podcast you need to. They're right at the top of my podcast list.

Mark,

Thanks for always providing such great resources on your website. Lifechurch.tv does a great job and I am really looking forward to reading "Applebee's America" when it comes out. Plus your small group philosophy and structure were a huge help to me in re-structuring our small group ministry (I am the small groups pastor at a church in MN).

Anyway, I wanted to take an opportunity to let you know about another great resource. It's a documentary video series called the Nomad Show (www.nomadshow.com). The guys that filmed and produced it go to our church. The first one was released a couple of weeks ago and features Sara Groves and her trips to Rwanda and Louisiana (Katrina relief). It is incredible. The next one will feature a group of young adults who traveled to Gana with Book of Hope... it is truly powerful.

Thanks for all you do!

i love the letmetellyouwhyisuck.com! We quote that line around the office all the time! Of course, Tommy Boy is one of my heroes! LUUUUKE, I AM YOUR FAAAATHER (or was that from another moview?) And, "Brother's don't shake hands! Brother's gotta HUG!"

There's a secular site that's a lot like this and it's really popular. People mail there secrets to the blog on a postcard.

The postcards are every artistic cards that have the confession in cut out words and some pictures that represent their secrets.

(The cards are anonymous.) I'd post the website URL except since it has a HUGE variety of confessions you never know what you're going to read/see.

I don't want to send anyone to it and scare/scar them from what could be there! :)

But the idea itself seems to really be effective. (I think the guy has even done a book on them.)
