Conversation

I'm spending the next two days with some culture shapers and culture makers. It is unlike any other gathering I've ever been part of. Hardly any agenda. Lots of conversation.

This gathering has me thinking. Maybe we need a few less conferences and a few more conversations. I feel like I walk away from conferences with information. But I walk away from conversations with relationships. I'd love to see a gathering like this for pastors.

What a poetic invitation :)

Look forward to seeing you at ICC! It'll be great to catch up.

i've told many people that one of the best things about the buzz conference was the "reunion" factor that carried through the whole thing.

i purposely don't do a lot of conferences just because i feel like they can be a waste of time - but when i do go, i almost always find that some of the greatest value i carry away is the development of existing relationships and the birth of new ones.

(none of this is to say that your sessions weren't phenomenal.... quite the contrary - they were awesome.)

i believe that it all boils down to relationship. without it, life gets stupid, church gets exhausting and even ridiculous, and things just pretty much start to wither. but with relationships, life is everywhere, the good ideas become great ideas, and we can go from shoving around some wishful thinking to strategically pursuing some otherwise unimaginable dreams.

i know you didn't ask for all that, but it was free.

thanks for the question. let me know where the milk and honey's gonna be and i'll be there.

Do you know about the work of the ? They are a think tank (with a Christian backing) in the UK that works on doing just that. More focus on relationships and less on work.

God has spoken...all the rest is conversation. Imagine how effective our evangelism, discipleship, and leadership would become if we viewed them as ongoing conversations? Relationship, relationship, relationship ~ that's how Jesus got this whole thing started, and that's how must keep it rolling
