iPods, Internal Podcasts, and Rick Warren

I opened my inbox this morning and found an email from Rick Warren. That was a surprise to say the least. We've never met in person, but you never know who you'll bump into in the blogosphere.

Rick shared some encouraging words and a really cool idea that got me thinking. Saddleback has always pushed the technological envelope. But I didn't know that they give all of their new employees an iPod--standard issue. How cool is that? Makes you want to apply for a job doesn't it :) And they do their staff training via podcast!

Granted, most of us don't have hundreds of staff members. But I love the way Saddleback continues to push the envelope despite their size!

This summer we launched an internal podcast to supplement our leadership training for small group and ministry leaders. Internal communication has never been our strength at NCC, but we're really trying to find ways to remedy that. I think podcasting is one solution. Certainly blogging is another.

Our www.zonegathering.com blog is worth checking out.

It is an invaluable resource for our leaders!

Yeah, I get an email from Rick Warren once a week. Of course, I did sign up for the Saddleback email update. Maybe that's why...lol.

Very cool. I know a bunch of our staff has ipods, and we podcast now... i think training and updates are a great idea once we get big enough!

You are officially cooler than cool. Now you must shake it like a Polaroid picture.

Isn't technology wonderful! by blogging - you can surround yourself with the leaders that you want to become, they say - show me your friends - well - show me the blogs you read and that is going to have an impact.
I love technology, not as much as you you see, but still I love technology - always and forever! LOL!

John Maxwell was another one I recall doing something like this, except on tapes. So, just as he provided training to his staff and/or team back in the days, he'd repackage and repurpose the same content and sell them as a monthly mentoring tape for the public to glean too. So, maybe with all the blogging you already do here at evotional.com, that could be doubled-up as staff training too!
