It's a Small World After All

Bookmark and Share

I got an email from a podcast listener today.

I continue to marvel at the way God is using technology to eliminate borders and boundaries. The death of distance!

I'm a 21-year old med-school student from Zurich and just wanted to send you a big HELLOU AND JODALEEE from Switzerland and let you know that you're my and my sisters running-buddy. We also introduced theaterchurch.com to our friends and some of them started downloading the sermons as well.

It's a small world after all.

I had a thought after I read this email: I think podcasting and blogging is going to make heaven even more fun. We'll meet all kinds of people from around the world whose voice we've heard or words we've read, but we've never met them face-to-face.

What a reunion to look forward to!

It is so awesome you reach so many people...there are no physical boundaries. How well do you kow your parishoners? is the congregation so large taht you dont know many? Id like to hear from you and any parishoners...Im searching for a church, love your message, but want to belong to a community that KNOWS me.

It IS a small world! I live in Cambodia and I read your blog several times a week, as well as receiving your evotionals. I attended NCC while I was in school in DC. Your messages consistently encourage me as I'm involved in ministry here all the way across the world. Thanks!

Anonymous,

Such a good question :)

I don't know everybody at NCC. It is virtually impossible, but that is why SMALL GROUPS are the most important thing we do at NCC. We're all about getting people connected relationally.

One of the things I struggle with is the inability to know everyone that I pastor, but I've come to terms with it on a couple levels.

First of all, it's not about me :) A wise pastor named Andy Stanley once said: everybody needs to know Jesus. Not everybody needs to know me :)

Plus we've got an amazing team of pastors and staffers who do such a great job. And we've got 150 small group and ministry leaders who are doing an amazing job.

I really think NCC is a place where it's hard not to connect if you want to get connected. And that is so important in a place like DC :)

My two cents,

Mark

Anonymous,

Just to give you the view point of an NCCer besides the pastor: you can get well connected at NCC. The hospitality teams at each location work hard to make sure that everyone can get information about the different small groups and events that happen at the church. Small group leaders and members are very intentional about living life together and making real connections. We believe that church is an interactive thing-- if you want to be known, I encourage you to come hang out with us and start getting to know some people! You might also be interested in coming for dinner too, our Alpha group starts up this coming Monday!
