Theaterchurch.com
Our redesigned website just went live.
Serious props to David Russell, our digital pastor. We still have some tweaking and adding to do, but we wanted to get it live before the weekend. One new feature will be a theaterchurch webcast that turns our website into an online location. We're hoping it's a portal for people who are checking out NCC.

What a great redesign. It looks nothing like any other church Web site out there. It's functional, easy on the eyes (love the oversized font) and intuitive. Kudos.
Sharp looking redesign, but it needs some more attention. All of the dark-effects against a dark background make for very little visual separation between elements on a page, and the bright green links and bullets draw attention away from the text itself. I'm sure this is going to be functionally better and cleaner and easier to manage than the last website, but I'd give the visual design a C+. Too many small features are competing for my attention. Add one more color, or a lighter shade of gray and that would help. The code looks great though.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder :)
Design is so tough because so much of it is subjective. Appreciate you weighing in.

Mr. Green: Thank you for taking the time to comment on the site. Your opinion means so much! I appreciate the compliment and pass the kudos to all the team involved in seeing this through with me.
designer: Thanks for the honest critique. We actually had a quad color palette to begin with. In our process, we opted for simplification of the colors and broadening the range of grays rather that having an unwieldy fourth color to manage. I agree that a lighter shade of gray could help reduce some of the contrast between elements like the bulleted lists and links. I also think the weight of those elements has a lot to do with the focus of the eye. Personally, I'm not over-drawn by them. But I can see how one could be---especially the weight of the links in the copy. I'll consider your recommendation, as I will any other critique.
Thanks for the overall compliment and for viewing the source. I like to hear that there are few folks who value what's under the hood. :) And it reminds me, I have a little cleaning to do now that there is company coming over to view my code. :)
Team, way to be right in the middle of the on-line marketplace with the new church portal. This site is unike anything I've seen related to a church site. This rocks. I saw it on the road in Boston this week and showed a boardroom of people!
