Five Guys
When we were on our planning retreat last week I had Five Guys for the first time. Our digital pastor, David Russell, had been evangelizing me for quite some time! I'm converted. Can't believe what I've been missing out on it all this time. A-mazing!
I'm am officially a Five Guys guy. I've had Five Guys three times in one week! I think that is actually the legal limit on cholesterol :)
I even like the Spanish on this one--cinco muchachos.

Life decisions have a rank. Something like this:
1.) Salvation
2.) Marriage
3.) Auburn or Alabama
4.) Five Guys or those other guys
#3 only applicable to Alabama natives. Disregard in the other 49 states and the District of Columbia.
Proud of you, PM. Excellent decision among so many. Good thing converting quickly too. You don't want to see my Five Guys tracts.
David- I say a hearty "amen" to everything you just said. Five guys is awesome. Although I'm not convinced that #3 is limited to only those living in Sweet Home. Seems to me that declaring Auburn or Alabama is a decision all God-fearing people must make.
I want one.
Right now!
Scott,
Have you seen those commercials where the guy flies to Chicago to get pizza for his pregnant wife?
I'm not going to blaspheme Chicago style pizza, by saying Five Guys is a Malnotti. But we are only a plane ticket away :) You know you have an open invitation to hang in the NCC hood anytime!
Mark
Ah yeah!
5 Guys is all that, a bag of chips and a bus pass!!! (That means good.)
I'm gonna try and get there when we're back out there - the week after Christmas!
I totally agree...when I moved to Richmond from the Northern Virginia area their was two place I hated leaving 1st Five Guys and 2nd Silver Diner. Now we have 3 Five Guys within 10 minutes from my house. PRAISE THE LORD!!! God does answer prayer. Five Guys rocks, I used to eat everyday for lunch when I was a student at TC Williams High back in the early 90s.
Mark, I am glad you have finally been converted. David you are such a great staff member for introducing this great burger to your boss.
I used to have a picture of the burger on my blog...I think I will put it back up on my sidebar. :-)
Later,
Chris
I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. Just tonight I was on my way home from a meeting and diverted my route for a secret covert stop at the recently opened 5 Guys here in Jacksonville, FL. I love that place. My wife is not as crazy for it, hence the covert stop.
Rock on oh ye masters of burgers and slicers of great fries!
My wife had a chance to talk with the owner of 5 guys - he's a tenant in her building. She shared with him that I made 5 guys my last meal before surgery in case something went awry with the anesthesia. He gave her some gift certificates and a T-shirt for me!
5 guys has to be the healthiest burger joint in town, but also check out elevation burger in Falls Church.
Mark, God may have created all burgers through man, but yes, only a few have been ordained and equipped for “nutritional” ministry.
Three years ago I packed it all up and moved from the West Coast to the East (a.k.a. best coast to least coast, left to the right coast, sunset to sunrise, etc.). It was an emotionally difficult move for many reasons. I left behind many important things: family, friends, a great church, perfect weather, and other things like never being asked if I would prefer the “non-smoking” section, amazing Pacific sunsets, the ability to play basketball outdoors…in the summer, and an extreme yet lovable culture. Needless to say, I miss CA a lot!
But the fast food packet of salt on my wounds was leaving behind some of the best food in the country. I am not a person wishing to start an East Coast/West Coast burger battle, but I have had burgers from both worlds and the one that tops my list is a 50’s-style burger chain in the West called In-N-Out Burger (www.in-n-out.com). The next time you are out there, put it on the to-do list and then forgive me for causing a brother to stumble.
Confession: I binge when I visit home. In fact, my greatest indulgence was hitting it for lunch and then for dinner a few hours later. No, I’m not proud of it, but I recognize my sin and have repented. I’ll never do that again…um, or at least if I do it, I will not order the same thing twice.
Love the blogs, the church, the message, the relevance. March on brother!
