Planning Retreat
I'm headed up to Baltimore for two days for our annual planning retreat. My all-time favorite bookstore is the Barnes & Noble in the Inner Harbor. Way too cool. It is a two level bookstore that used to be a power plant. Is it just me or do you think better thoughts when you're surrounded by thousands of books?
We try to go into every year with an annual strategy for everything. I'll be working on our marketing strategy, sermon strategy, staffing strategy, launch strategy and development strategy.
The sermon strategy is probably the most challenging and most important. Our goal is to walk away with a preaching calendar for 2007.

i love just hangin out in bookstores, there's just something about them, hav you ever been to powells city of books in Portland, Oregon? its freaking huge
Never been to Powells but I've heard a lot about it. If the stories are true I'm guessing there will be a Powells in heaven :)

i dunno, it was huge, but i found it hard to browse in, dunno why, i wish there were better bookstores in Northern Ireland, we have Waterstones and thats it...
Powells is impressive, no doubt, and I spent way too much time at the Baltimore Barnes and Noble, but give me a good public library over a book store any day. I could have lived in the 10 floors of 'stacks' we had in college. And it's all free! Unfortunately, the DC public library isn't *quite* there. Sigh...
Thanks for the insight on your planning retreat.
