RPMs
Just made an observation I've never noticed before. I wasn't able to put it into words until now. I just spent an hour with my mentor, Dick Foth. Dick is a former church planter and college president. He currently traffics in congressional circles doing ministry under the radar with people in high places who need a confidant. Dick has been a friend and mentor since we arrived in DC.
To be honest, this has been an incredibly hectic day! I have a ton of meetings and deadlines. But I noticed something as I was meeting with Dick. I wasn't in a hurry. I'm never in a hurry when I meet with Dick. His wisdom has a calming effect. His friendship is a de-stressor in my life. So grateful for someone who's been around the sun a few more times than me. When I'm with Dick it seems like my RPMs slow down!
Not even sure that I'm making a point. Just making an observation. And expressing gratitude for a ministry mentor.

I know what you mean. There are certain older friends of mine who force me to slow down, take things easy, ponder, and make time for personal time with God. We Gen-X or Gen-Y kids just go go go go go and forget how important it is to just...be. :)
Glad you have a mentor to help you with that!
It's definitely a big plus to have someone who brings a calming influence into your life. I think we all need that to keep ourselves grounded and not get too caught up with everything else that's going on in our lives.
Glad you have someone there for you as you've been there for so many others!
We had the privilege to have Dick visit and speak at our services a couple months back. I had a brief opportunity to introduce myself and ask him about NCC and what God was doing with your church family. I agree, he has learned how to maintain a life in sync with the Spirit and not the world.
