Secret Santa

Bookmark and Share

Just got a Christmas gift in the mail.

I'm not going to mention any initials, but I'll give you a few clues. The church is Healing Place. And the pastor is Dino Rizzo. How's that for being indiscreeet.

I apologize in advance to them for blogging this, but you can't be as nice and generous as these guys and expect people not to blog about it :) I'm sorry. It's just asking too much!

Small acts of kindness are so memorable. After our buzz conference, the Healing Place crew gave Lora and I a gift certificate to Ruth's Chris. We were blown away by how thoughtful that was! When their team was in Australia, Dan Ohlerking got me an Australian Starbucks Card. Very cool. Very thoughtful. And now I get a tin can of peppermint bark for Christmas.

I can only come to one of two conclusions. Either it's a sinister plot to kill me with food, coffee, and candy and make NCC a campus of HPC. Or they have the gift of giving.

Don't you love people who have the gift of giving. I just feel like they are such a great complement to my gift--the gift of receiving. I always want to be the kind of person that allows people with the gift of giving to exercise that gift to its fullest potential :) That's what I'm here for. It's just the kind of person I am :)

Anywho.

Mucho Thanks!

Ahhh....I remember the good 'ol days at HPC. Lots of servant evangelism, jambalaya, and Pastor Dino keeping me rolling in the aisles. The team that has assembled at HPC is top notch and I'm glad they are focusing on the same goal as NCC....serving people. It was at HPC where I learned the term "servant evangelism" and it has stuck with me since; deep in my " cerebral cortex " as PM likes to say! :-)

I just want to win for commenting on every post today. Seriously, I don't know Dino but I did have the pleasure to read his most recent blog post "god, you care" and if that summarizes who Dino is then I think it is apparent that he is a stand up guy. I'm not a minister nor do I play one on TV but when I read post on evotional.com and these other pastors blogs, it is often so refreshing and encouraging to look into the hearts and souls and know it is real.

Beside compassion and generosity in the dictionary there is a picture of Dino Rizzo. He is the real deal and he is also hilarious. Not sure what peppermint bark is but I would think it is probablly good.

while i thoroughly appreciate actually being named and even linked in a real-mccoy mark batterson evotional post, i have to submit one slight correction. i had very little to do with the aussie starbucks card - i just got the privilege of sending it out - dino was the one (again) with the idea.

as much as i love hpc, and certainly wouldn't relish the idea of living where ncc is, if i were in the position of having to live where winter actually brings sub freezing temps, i think ncc would be a no-brainer choice for where to go.

there's already enough former-hpcers for some reason already there, and all the cool stuff that was said about dino in the post and comments here about him could all be said about you and ncc just the same.

y'all are one tremendous bunch up there - it's really cool to be able to consider you all friends.

y'all come to the house. whenever you wanna - just holler.
