I kept one of my New Year's Resolutions for at least one week :)
I didn't check work-related email on my day off which happens to be Wednesdays during the school year because my kids have a half-day. In fact, I didn't go online at all lasterday. And I'm ok. The world didn't come to a screeching halt :)
One of the great challenges pastors face is taking a Sabbath. We work the weekend so it's tough to disconnect. I think the Sabbath is a trust issue just like the tithe. I believe God can do more with 90% than I can do with 100%. Do I believe God can do more with six days than I can do with seven days. If we don't obey the Sabbath we hit a point of dimishing return where more is less.
Seems to me like the ten commandements are ten boundaries. And one of them is the boundary between creation and re-creation. We need a day to recreate. It's the only way to keep a godly rhythm.
