Relaxing weekend.
I don't get to say that often, but it is so nice to be able to just go to church with my family occasionally!
Joel Schmidgall kicked off our Journey series this weekend. NCC is blessed with an amazing teaching team. Powerful and practical message on seeking God.
Definitely had a moment in church this morning.
Nine years ago yesterday my father-in-law, Bob Schmidgall, passed away. His last message was on seeking God. So Joel played the tape of his closing prayer. I lost it. It's been so many years since I'd heard his voice. I can't even describe the emotional impact. Pretty intense.

Your father-in-law had a great influence on my life. I enjoyed the season I was able to sit under him in Naperville. He was a great strength and encouragement to my family as we walked through a test of faith.
He sounds like an incredible man Mark, I'm glad he had such an impact on you - and I'm sure he's thankful that you're passing on that impact to so many other people too.
So are you and Joel Brothers-in-law? Never made that connection before.
