Lion Chaser's Manifesto
I've had a few requests for the lion chaser's manifesto. And I wanted to post it for the students at Northwest University.
Read it. Live it.
Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Grab life by the mane. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Expand your horizons. Accumulate experiences. Consider the lilies. Enjoy the journey. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can. Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Don't let what's wrong with you keep you from worshipping what's right with God. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze a new trail. Criticize by creating. Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks. Don't try to be who you're not. Be yourself. Laugh at yourself. Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Quit running away.
Chase the lion.

I love that. I still think it would make a great bookmark/t-shirt/poster/etc. My favorite parts are the first sentence, combined with the last 3.
Thanks for posting this, I needed to read it again.
Whew. That's some good stuff Mark.
Thank you.
Mark, I was in a client's office and a friend had that quote printed off and pasted to his computer. My friend said "...this quote is great, but I don't know who this Mark Batterson is...." I took a copy and Googled you, found this blog and have been following you ever since. I tried to get the book while on an extended trip to Minneapolis a few weeks ago and Barnes & Noble, as well as Borders did not have it! I'll get it through Amazon soon (when I get done with my stack of others!).
Thank you for writing this book. I'm a little less than half way through the seventh chapter and so far the book has rocked my world! There are a lot of truths in this book that many need to hear today. Hold on tight, cause I think God's going to take you on quite a ride through this book!
THANK YOU!
luuuuuuv it!
Amen and Amen!
Mark,
Quite simply - THANK YOU! I just read this as my wife was starting the DVD "Facing the Giants." Not only are your words motivational and encouraging, when combined with the powerful orchestral movement that is at the beginning of the movie "Facing the Giants" the emotional response is almost amazing.
Thanks for your book and you passion for Jesus Christ!

I am not sure how I ended up finding your book, but I am reading it now and my world view, or better stated, my view of who I am in God's world, is dramatically changing. So there is a Lion chaser in Cape Coral, FL. If I am ever in Washington DC I will try to stop into the coffee shop and of course National Community Church.
