Every year I do a State of the Church message. And as I shared right at the beginning of my message today: the state of the church is strong! The NCCers who watch the State of the Union seemed to get a kick out of that.
I spent a little bit of time looking back at 2006 because our vision isn't isn't manufactured in a vacuum. Our vision for the future is based on God's faithfulness in the past. Or in the words of Winston Churchill: "The farther backward you look the farther forward you'll be able to see."
We saw some pretty big dreams become reality in 2006. And I think that causes you to dream bigger dreams! It's so fun casting vision now because God has already answered some ridiculous prayers. In other words, our vision is more substantiated. And it builds on what God has already done.
Totally diggin' the new theaters seats at Union Station. Schweeet! But we lost more seats than we expected. Long story short, three of our five services were standing room only. We've got a meeting on Tuesday to figure out when and where we add a sixth service. Actually it'll be a seventh service because we launch NCC en Espanol.
The only disappointment this weekend is that I missed my first game of NCC football. We do a Turkey Bowl and NCC Super Bowl every year. But when we got home our furnace wasn't working and our house was freezing! Go figure. Coldest day of the year. And our furnace decides to quit!
