That was random

Just had one of those make your day moments.

I was walking out of our coffeehouse and a woman yelled at me. Asked if I wrote the book in her hand. I said "yup." She's never been to Ebenezers and we'd never met. She was super excited about the book.

Long story short, she said she was reading through the One-Year Bible with her boyfriend and last night she read the story about Benaiah in II Samuel 23:20. She'd never heard it before. Then she walked into the coffeehouse and saw In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day on the shelf--a book on II Samuel 23:20. Then she saw me walking through the coffeehouse.

In the words of my son, Parker: "That was random."

Such is the sovereigny of God.

Sovereignty seems random from our human vantage point, but there is an intricate and infinite design beyond human comprehension. Anytime something like this happens it reminds me of the prayer we prayed before In a Pit came off the press: God, help the book get into the right hands at the right time!

I'm almost finished reading "In a Pit With a Lion......" and just wanted to let you know that it is EXACTLY what I needed to read right now. Exactly. Thank you.
I noticed you have another book pictured on your sidebar, "I.D."....I think that'll be next on my list. :)

Mark - I love how God does things providentially (or as your son says...random =). Anyway, our staff (South Albany Community Church - Albany, Oregon) is reading the book and then discussing it each Tuesday. It seems we are collectively and individually in a place of having to "choose" whether to chase lions or run from them. I can't speak for the rest of them, but I have been very encouraged and energized to chase some lions. Blessings!

Wow! You actually look like the picture on your book.

I have an album and had a guy say Hey I think I have you in my car!

Congratulations, a milestone in authoring.

I can testify to the authenticity of this blog... cuz I'm THAT GIRL!

I'd never heard of the story, until a little more than 12 hours before walking into the coffeehouse. I didn't even know there was a coffeehouse over there! And, as I stood in line, it(the book)stared at me, eye level. Kinda did a double-take as I reread the title. About had a heart attack as I read the back! And, yes, there he was, smiling back at me off the page, as if to say "I knew you'd be coming for this. Still want that latte?"

I snatched 2 books and thought "God, you are on your A-game today!" And, as God likes to go all-out... the smiling face on the book appears in the coffeehouse!

The real craziness is that the very best part of the whole story is that the book is EXACTLY what both of us (my boyfriend and I) needed right now! So, the prayer before it was published has been answered (again)! And, I can't tell you how many people are about to get this book as a gift from me in the near future! It'll surely warrant a box, rather than a bag!

This whole situation is definitely in "God's scrapbook!" (see the end of Chapter 2!) It definitely defied the odds.

So, thank you so much for sharing your faith and your gift (love your writing!). PRAISE GOD!
