What a difference a few lights can make. We experienced a huge win this week. We've had such a good longstanding relationship with Union Station that the theater powers that be allowed us to install lights. It cuts down set up and tear down by about fifteen minutes which is huge when you're a portable church. And it's much closer to concert quality.
Pastor Joel kicked off our Hero series. Really excited about zooming in on five heroes over th next five weeks. I really think biographical series are huge because hearing other people's stories helps us figure out our story.
Nice to get a little breather this weekend and just go to church with my family!

Mark,
I have a question about how you guys alloow the spirit to move in your service? Do you have an "alter" experience? Is it at another venue? Just trying to wade through this as an AG church in a movie theatre oursleves.

Tory,
Great question. The theater environment can be challenging in that regard. It lends toward "spectatorship".
Sometimes we'll close with communion. Occasionally we'll close with an opportunity for prayer. More often than not we close with a song and benediction.
I think we've tried to create some other environments where people can "spend time at the altar." One of them is our Catacombs event where we worship for ninety minutes. And prayer is definitely an element in most of our small groups.
I think the key is finding the right rhythm, but also allowing the sermon series (which hopefully was conceived by the Holy Spirit) to lead the way you end services. I think it's ok to end different series in different ways. Mix it up and keep it fresh.
My two cents,
Mark
My creative arts pastor said this in response to your post... i thought you would get a kick out of it...,
