The Junky Car Club

My friend Mike Foster is full of wild and crazy ideas. One of them is the junky car club. I'm now an official member and proud of it. In fact, Mike asked if I'd pose for their JCC calendar. I've never been so honored. Just finished my first calendar shoot :)

Please don't parallel park behind me.
Upon closer inspection I see that you also did a good job of finding a "vintage beat up license plate." Very well done.
Come on, Ken! It wasn't me. It was them. Always them.
Mark
I knew it!!! You are a gifted author, wonderful communicator, creative innovator - you must be - A FORD MAN!!!! I drive a 95 Ford Ranger with 111,000 miles and my back-up is 96 Crown Vic with 180,000 miles! You learn to innovate!!!!
A 95 Ranger with less than 200k? Come on jtmitch, I'm here to up the ante!! HA! I have a 94 Ford Ranger with 212,000+ miles, no a/c, no radio, a camper shell with faded paint, a hood that is misaligned, and a missing front bumper with the grille all messed up also. AHAHA! I'm running on some God sized fumes!! I wonder if they'd let ME be in the calendar???
I am downsizing my car next month.
I drive a 2006 Dodge Magnum (Hemi) and I recently realized that this car was hindering my life and my ministry.
I feel like I'm being released from prison.
SWEET RIDE!!!
We have a 93 Aerostar with only 130K but it needs an A/C overhaul every other year.
gotta love the taurus. i'm living large with the '98 taurus edition... 107K.
Come on guys. I have a 96 Plymth Grd Voyage with 270K. I drove it from Raleigh to to DC for Buzz last month. Like a Timex!
Wow...talk about stories about survival...

(i drive a 93 camry with a cracked windshield, broken radio, and a funky smell on hot days. and couldnt be happier)
I *almost* qualified having *just* retired my 1996 Saturn LX with 217,000 miles. It broke down and I determined that if it cost more than $500, it was new car time. It did and so I gave it to Melwood.
Dad would be so proud! This could be the greatest idea I've ever seen!!! I'm on the nicer end of the club, but am working my way back ('95 Civic - 160k).
I'm representin' the Eastsiderz (of St. Paul!) with an '88 S-10 with over 160K, on it's second motor, and no working AC! Ah, how it's great to be a broke/just out of seminary/driving an old clunker/wannabe minister!
;-)
My wife drives the new car, '96 Civic with over 160K!
Yes, we do pray for our cars. The nice thing is that in a few more years my truck will qualify for "classic" and "collector" vintage license plates.
Big Chris
Mark, those pictures are hilarious! I hope I didn't wake up my wife from laughing so loud. The last one is the best. What a trip!
I have been reading this blog for a pretty long time and this is by far the funniest thing yet.
This post alone would cause me to visit your church.
Officially the funniest thing I've ever seen on this blog. Yes, it beat out the wild goose chase video. Amazing.
I too must be a member of this club --- 1993 Ford Tempo, mid-90s green with peeling paint (though a impressive 66,000 miles, and that's it) and its share of mechanical problems. Oh, and it was free -- a true token of a junkie car! I call it my God Car because not only did God give it to me, He alone makes it start every morning.
Ahhh yeaah!
I just wanted to post a comment and represent the Wesst Siiyyde! :)
I drive a church planters "Beemer" AKA a '92, faded-blue, 4-door, honda civic with 203,000 miles. Someone needs to tell the Junky Car Club to let me in!
