Psuedo Birthday

It's my pseudo-birthday today. I turn seven.

Seven years ago today I went into emergency surgery for ruptured intestines. I was on a respirator for two days. Lost twenty-five pounds in one week. It took several surgeries and about a year to feel like I was back to normal self, but I definitely came out of it with a profound appreciation for life!

Just thanking God for the gift of life!

Jeff,

The crazy thing is that I have no idea! It was so random. I did complain of abdominal pain for a week without the doctor figuring out what was wrong. I think that inability to diagnose the problem definitely led to the rupture.

But besides a big scar, I haven't had any complications or problems with my intestines since.

We're so glad you are alive, too! It's a good reminder to put as much life into your years as possible. (not in a burn out sense, but in a living from the heart sense). You go!

Hey Mark,

I'm reading your book right now and just read the part about your second birthday and then came on here an saw the post. The interesting part for me is that I am facing possible intestinal surgery... if behave my eating I can ward off any emergency surgery. Short of a miracle I will have surgery eventually... anyhow I just planted church in a theater 4 months ago...so I kinda connected with your whole surgery thing.
Thanks for all you do for the kingdom.

Mark - you probably already know this, but Oswald Chambers died of a ruptured Appendix in 1917 at age 43 working at a battlefield hospital refusing to take a bed from a WWI soldier. ironic and telling.

I read Chamber's bio while I was recovering :) Impacted me doubly because I knew he died from what I probably should have died from. I've always loved his thoughts and words!
