Catalyst Lab

Yesterday was quite a day. Got up awfully early to catch a flight to Atlanta. Really enjoyed doing one of the Catalyst labs. Humbled and honored by the opportunity! Then I did a Chase the Lion event at Crossroads Community Church. Don't speak to youth very often so it was a cool change of pace. Pretty exhausted by the end of the day!

Very excited about kicking back and hanging with our team the next two days!

It was also cool to debut the new study guide that Threads just put out: Chase the Lion. We gave away 100 free copies, but you can also get a free sample online.

Enjoyed your lab yesterday. Read your blog everyday and was so excited to hear you in person. Thanks for challenging me to chase my lions. I'm ready.

I was at your lab Wednesday. I got your book the week before the Conference and read it in 2 days! I have never been more inspired, challenged, educated and entertained by a book as I was with yours. After that, I could not wait to see you in person at the Lab. My Pastor was one of the people who got a free copy of the small group material as our church plant has only been around for about 2 months. I will be "chasing my lion" by facilitating my very first small group using the material we got from you. I am very excited about sharing this inspirational book wih people at my church.

Thank you for writing this book and I look forward to your next one! May God continue to bless you!

I was at your lab Wednesday and enjoyed your talk. I really liked what you said about playing offense in life. I lived many years just letting life happen to me. Its so much better to go after it. I also got one of your free books and look forward to going through it. Thanks for sharing about your failed church plant, that gives a lot of us permission to try and fail and not feel like, well I guess I'm just not cut out for that. I'd love to hear more about that sometime. Thanks

I was at your lab on Wednesday, too. I used to live in DC when I was in the Army in The Old Guard at Ft. Myer. It's great to hear someone's making a difference in that great city.

I just want you to know that you played a major role in me getting something very important confirmed by God at Catalyst. I too failed at a church plant earlier in my career, but I've always felt God wanted me to plant a church. For the last several years I feel I've been floundering around looking for a direction and a city.

My wife and I have a real heart for San Francisco. We just get the people and love that city (and the rest of the Bay Area). About six months ago I asked Jamie, if we could start a church anywhere in the world and money was no obstacle, where would it be? We both answered San Francisco. But we laughed it off because it's so insanely expensive to live in SF. After hearing your lab and a few other speakers, I called Jamie. We were both crying over the phone as we realized that San Francisco is our lion. We have absolutely NO IDEA how God is going to finance this church that we believe he wants us to plant. But I have faith that he will. I was looking at rent prices for a small 3 bedroom dwelling - $3,000+! I just laughed. Not from fear, though. I can't wait to see how God's going to pull it off! Thanks for sharing your heart.

Mark,
We could use all the prayer and advice you can muster up! Beyond that, I'll just ask you to ask God how you could be a part of it. I appreciate your response!

Mark,

I was at your lab and you did a great job. I have been going through the book and making up my own questions for a Bible study I am leading, but I was able to get 1 of the free 100, so thank you.
