Quirky Habits

Not sure why I'm sharing this, but all of us are a little quirky right? For example, I always set my alarm clock to an even number! Any other "even people" or "odd people" out there?

Just thought I'd share one of my writing habits: I take my shoes off when I write. Somehow, rubbing my feet together makes me think better. But I also view writing as a spiritual discipline. When I'm writing I feel like I'm on holy ground. So I take my shoes off like Moses at the burning bush.

There you have it: a random quirky habit that you didn't need to know about to live a long, happy life!

I don't know, somehow I'm feeling more enriched. Thanks for sharing!

Now that you mention it, I always have to set my alarm clock to a weird time, like 5:37 or 6:02.

Wish I could say it was a holy ground thing, but it's probably the result of the gene pool that spawned me.

If I'm sitting at a table or desk I have to place everything on that table at square angles with the edges of the table - either parallel or perpendicular. Round tables weird me out.

My alarm clock is always set on odd numbers and never on the hour. Example: 6:55am

This is neither spiritual nor healthy... but when someone blows their horn at me for not taking off fast enough from a stop light... I purposely go slow and then wave when they go by... hmmm... may be a control thing

Although some would think I'm odd, I do work best with even numbers.

Agree with you RE the "spiritual discipline" of writing. I think it helps me listen closer to that inner voice. Also, when I read what I write, it helps me to see myself in a more objective light.

Everytime I walk through a doorway, I either touch the top of the door frame (and imagine myself dunking a basketball...something I've never been able to do) or have to purposely will myself not to do it.

Doesn't everyone do that?

My alarm times are usually "normal", but I like to set my microwave to odd times, like 1 minute 3 seconds, or 2 minutes and 78 seconds (yes, I like to overshoot my seconds!).

Unless I'm at the office, I always write with my shoes off, because...I never wear shoes indoors!

This is a great post. Some friends of mine and I did a post like this one a few months back - it all started when I admitted that when I grocery shop - I buy most items in "3's" (so I don't ever run out, right?)! LOL
I also count steps when I am climbing the stairs - but, never when I am going DOWN the stairs! Weird, huh?

I definitely set my alarm two or three minutes after the hour or half hour. Psychologically I think it makes me feel better to know that I have an extra 120 seconds of sleep to look forward to. Although of late, I've been getting up way before the alarm is set to go off, so it's all moot. Oh well.

I have a quirky eating habit. If I'm eating something like m&m's...I have to eat the last bite with an even number. If not, I throw out the last one or give it to someone. If I eat pizza and I eat two slices and there is only one slice left, no matter how hungry I am I can't bring myself to eat the last one since it's an "odd" amount. Make sense? Well to me it does :-p

I almost always carry A PENNY in my pocket. Who knows where that one came from...that's just weird. Maybe I should stop....hahah!

They say confession is good for the soul. My soul feels better now :-)

As I'm nearing the end of a meal with food on my plate, I begin planning out what will be my last bite. On a meal where I love 2 or more things, there will be one bite left of each, which usually brings inquiries of others.
