Annual Planning Retreat

Bookmark and Share

Our team heads up to Baltimore's Inner Harbor today for two days of strategic planning. It's always a little overwhelming because we try to put everything we do on the table. The goal is to rethink and reprioritize what we do. I also want our different staff and different departments to set goals and establish strategies.

The goal is to walk away with a sermon strategy, staffing strategy, assimilation strategy, discipleship strategy, outreach strategy, and launch strategy to name a few. We're obviously building off of previous years, but strategy needs to be tweaked and upgraded all the time.

Wow! That sounds great! How do you fit all that in in just 2 days? We are also heading to our staff summit this week to review key ministries and plan for the next 6 months. I'd love to see your 'agenda' or timeline for how you structure your offsites if you post it anywhere.

Mark, we at Impact Community Church are embarking on planning an Annual Staff Retreat and are hoping we could learn from what you did. We are hoping you may be able to share with us some of your materials that you used, like agendas and such. Also any materials used in the planning process would be very helpful to us. Can you put me in touch with someone in your church with whom I could talk to about this? Thank you very much for your time.

Leslie,

We mix up the retreat with personal planning time so people can set objectives for the coming year. Then we have different departments or teams meet--worship leaders, media, discipleship, campus pastors, etc. And we wrap up with all-team meetings.

Hope that helps.

Mark
