Almost every weekend we have a few church planters or pastors visiting NCC. Some of them are theater churches. Others are church plants or multi-site churches. And it's an absolute joy to be able to share what we're doing, but I always feel a little funny because we certainly don't have it figured out and there are so many churches that are doing it so much better than us! And trust me, that is not false humility. I wish it was!
Really enjoyed hanging out with a couple pastors from Saddleback this weekend. They are making the multi-site move in a pretty aggressive way. Their vision is 10 sites by 2010. Man, I love people who dream God-sized dreams! And I love the fact that Saddleback is still experimenting and growing and stretching!
Really cool to hear some of their ideas. Here is one of the ideas we might steal. Occasionally, Rick Warren will have a campus pastor share one of the points in the message. I thought that was a really cool way to connect locations and empower campus pastors.
One of the experiments we're going to try in 2008 is a hybrid model. We'll still have one teacher across all locations live and video most weekends. But we'll mix in some weekends where all of our campus pastors will preach live on the same weekend.

Mark, the God-sized dreams are the ones that God blesses - because we don't have our fingerprints all over them. It is so exciting to be a part of what God is doing in this day - keep up the great work!
Blessings on the experiment. We run a hybrid model, and it works extremely well. Keep up the great work and the posts...
Mark - we do the hybrid thing & it works! The truth is that the campus pastor (which is what I am) need an opportunity to speak into the lives of the congregation. No one is more in tune with them and what works than them.
I use those opportunities to reinforce mission, vision and values!
