Sophmore Rock Album

I had a phone conference with my editors today.

Man, writing books is hard. I love it. I feel called to do it. But it is hard to describe how difficult it is. Especially when you're a perfectionist. Honestly, I think the second book is harder to write than the first book. There were zero expecations with the first book. But because In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day has exceeded expectations, it creates some added pressure.

Wild Goose Chase is a sequel of sorts. It's sort of like a sophomore rock album. You want the same sound. But you also want new songs. I'm trying to find the right balance! And it's not easy. I feel like I'm in the middle of the writing forest and it's tough to find my way back out.

Just processing out loud. Sure would appreciate a prayer!

Hey Man,

This is Shaun King - a church planter in Atlanta. We are praying for you and for the good success of this book and the many more books that are in you!

Don't be bound by our expectations. As a matter of fact, if I could ever think of something that typified a wild goose chase, it would be attempting to fulfill the expectations of the crowds.

May your mind, spirit, and fingers be moved by the Lord as you type out the rest of what is in front of you.

Take care Mark,

Shaun & Crew

Hey Mark,

This is Eric. Our prayers are with you and His Spirit is inside you ready to complete what was already planned for this moment in Eternity past.

Just do what you do best and do not forget what His Word says in Eph. 3:20. He wants to out do whatever it is that you are thinking. Big God!!

Your Friend, Eric Darr

Mark,

You were just prayed for this very moment.

You were also prayed for a couple of weeks ago as I was walking thru a Lifeway store and saw your first book on the shelves. And no, I haven't read it just yet.. but plan to.

Take care and let God alone speak through you.

Be encouraged,
Camey

If you're in the "writing forest" then it sounds like God is getting ready do something big! No matter how many times we've been there before, it seems like we always end up there again. I'll be praying for you Mark and praising God at the same time for what I know He already has in the works!!
God bless you and merry christmas!

Pastor Mark, I pray that our Almighty God, who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we (you) ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (you), will overshadow you and supernaturally create in you the words that He wants you to write. I pray for clarity of mind and that you will be able to hear clearly what our God speaks to your heart so that it will be a Word in season and out of season to the Church and the world. I pray, also, that His peace...the peace that passes all understanding, will rest, rule, and reign in your heart so that you will know that the pressure is not on you to perform, but that once again, the pressure is on the God of the universe to perform, and I pray that you will know beyond a shadow of doubt that He is more than able to handle the pressure!

Can't wait until "Wild Goose Chase" hits this earth...it's going to be really something!

Love you, Pastor Mark!

Mark,

You've been in my prayers this evening. I can't wait to see how God speaks through you again. Seek His words.

I finished "In a Pit..." and it was fantastic! Here's my review of it: http://youthpastorjeff.blogspot.com/2007/11/in-pit-with-lion-on-snowy-day.html

God continues to blow me away. Here's to another year of chasing lions!

Praying for you during this season! I agree, writing a book is very difficult! I am trying to write one - and being a perfectionist, too - it makes it difficult. My friends tell me that I just need "to write" and not worry about the tiniest details. After all, that is what the editors are for, right? :)
Hope you and your family have a blessed and restful Christmas!
