Mountain Sunrise

One of the things I enjoyed about Utah was watching the sun rise from behind the mountains. In fact, in my gratitude journal I thanked God for the colors pink and purple! It had been awhile since I'd done that! I'm sure people who see the mountains everyday get used to them. Psychologists call it inattentional blindness. And I guess I get used to seeing the Capitol just about everyday. But I got up before sunrise most mornings on our trip just to see the sunrise.

Here's a picture from our hotel on the first morning in Utah. The sun was just beginning to peek over the peak.

When I'm jogging & see sunrises like that, my heart starts racing as I wonder, for a mili-second, if THIS is it...where He's gonna bust thru the clouds on His chariot. Does that sound cheesy? But seriously! That's how beautiful some sunrises are!

Mark, it's very true. I have lived in Utah for over 18 years now, and the mountains sadly are just something that gets overlooked in daily life around here. When I was back in DC on my internship I was in awe with the monuments, and the overall "city" feel of things, much like I bet you and Parker were with the mountains here. Crazy how that "inattentional blindness" gets to us! I also wanted you to know that I miss NCC to death! Thank you again for being my "church away from church" while I was in DC, and glad you guys had a great time out here in UT!
