Tired Voice

I spent six hours in the studio recording In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day. I love new experiences so it was cool getting an education in audio books. Believe it or not, my tongue actually got tired. My throat is a little sore. And I was mentally exhausted by the end of the day. But what a fun challenge.

So glad I'm reading the book myself. Seems so much more authentic since they are my ideas and my stories. Makes it more first-person.

I've got about three more hours left of studio work and we'll call it a wrap. I feel bad for the poor editor! I think I did a decent job and there are still hundreds of audio edits that need to be made. My P's were popping like crazy!

To think... we used to call you "PM" for Pastor Mark but... um... now it could stand for "Pop Master."

I like it. It fits. Kinda DC Gangsta'ish.

I can imagine you next to the mic with your arms folded like Run-D-MC.

I've been an avid books-on-tape girl for years, and I am fascinated by the process. Do you do just a paragraph or two at a time, or do you try to go for several pages without stopping?

Mark,

Thanks for the inspiration you provide through all you do. I for one am especially grateful for your sharing of personal insights regarding relationships, goal setting and our walk with Christ. It's been a pleasure to experience...keep on keepin on

Ever think of planting a church in Scranton, PA? If so, tell Jerry Gillis and/or Jon Ferguson. They are already in. We need one more boost!

IT IS HOME OF THE OFFICE, ya know!

Mark, another leader gave me a copy of your book. I'm excited to read it.

mamasue,

You basically plow through it with lots of "pick ups." I had trouble with my p's popping. I had a recording tech listening and tracking with me the entire time so he'd sometimes stop me and have me go back. Or I'd catch things myself.

I rarely got more than two pages without some kind of pick up. Pretty arduous process!

i'm glad you're the one doing the recording for your book. it bugs me to see an audiobook that i really want to buy but it's not read by the author. i just feel the author can do the best job of passionately communicating the message. so, thanks! look forward to seeing, er, hearing the final product!
