Franchising
When we opened the door to Ebenezers we did it with a multiplication mindset. It was a quantum challenge getting Ebenezers off the ground, but I always hoped it would turn into a chain of coffeehouses. The thing that caught me a little off guard was the volume of interest from churches around the country. I'm guessing we've dialogued with a couple hundred churches over the past two years that want to do something similar. And we've been asked if we would consider franchising.
Today we head to a franchising seminar to begin exploring possibilities. We have no foregone conclusions, but if we felt like franchising would help us help other churches then we'd go for it. Excited about exploring possibilities.

Just as an FYI... we would be very interested in an Ebenezer's franchise up here in CT...

How great! Though I've never been to your coffeehouse I've heard you talk about and do presentations on it. After serving/working in a large church for 5 years, I've moved onto working as the director of The Bridge Cafe. We're a non-profit Food Pantry and Free Store for qualifying clients. Connected to that is The Cafe. We serve free lunches and coffee to our clients and are open to the public as well. We birthed ideas from a coffeehouse in Seattle doing the same thing. A coffeehouse/cafe is an amazing way to start relationships build on those you make, all while being in the other persons environment. I'll be praying for you guys and God's guidance. I think what you're all doing is amazing. I just thought of you, because we were lobbying at the Indiana Capitol and remembered your talk about D.C.

We, for once, will anxiously be awaiting to hear what directions you all decide on with franchising. We've been down to Ebenezer's to check it out, talked to some of your people, and are currently working on pulling our plans together to open a coffeehouse with much of the same vision as yours. We are actually planning on stopping in at Eb's tomorrow after we are done at Coffee Fest at the convention center. We are in the process of researching equipment, putting together our business plan, etc., but if we aren't too far down the road, we'd definitely be interested in the possibility of franchise!
Amazingly we are thinking of doing something similar here in Orlando. I know you are heading this way shortly for a conference, I wonder if we could connect while you're in town.
I am from Morris Illinois, sadly, a friend was going to open a Christian coffee house here, and it fell through. Everything was all set, plans, permits, bids, details, you name it, they had a building, which they had gutted and everything ready to roll. I really hope it picks up and takes off. I think a Christian coffee house would be an asset to our community. I look forward to hearing of your franchise idea, maybe our church family could look at it.
Hey Mark... looking forward to seeing you and hearing from you @ evolve. I am going with 5 other church planters in a RV. Can you say Disaster! Just a bunch of lionchasers. I wanted to say thanks also... I came up to D.C. and hung out with you and asked you a ton of questions sbout church planting and you were super helpful. Thanks for looking me in the eyes and saying "Man, You are a church planter". My family and I are moving to Norfolk in July and starting a collegiate church on the campus of ODU. Just gotta chase those lions. Thanks for leading the way. Definitely can't wait to chase some wild geese or gooses! See ya at the conference!
peace,
